CAMEL TREK FROM 1 TO 4 DAYS

Experience the desert differently, at the slow and soothing pace of a dromedary.
Over 1 to 4 days, embark on an immersive journey through Wadi Rum, letting yourself be carried across dunes, canyons, and majestic valleys. A timeless adventure, just like the nomads of the past.
-How the experience works-
From the village, a jeep will take you to the starting point of your dromedary adventure. You’ll be accompanied by a Bedouin camel guide who will lead you throughout the journey.
At midday, he prepares lunch and tea, and makes sure you have everything you need.
Your overnight belongings (mattress, blankets, pillows, clothes, etc.) are brought to you each evening by 4×4, directly to the bivouac spot. You’ll only carry a small day bag with your essentials.
Nights are spent under the stars, in the absolute silence of the desert, for a nomadic and authentic experience.
The itinerary below is planned over 4 days / 3 nights, but can be shortened to 1, 2, or 3 days depending on your preferences.
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
DAY 1 :
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
FROM AL QATTAR TO UM RADA:
- The trek begins in Al Qattar, an ancient water point nestled at the foot of the cliffs, where water still trickles from a natural spring. In the past, this place was vital for nomadic shepherds who brought their herds here to drink. A large basin was dug to collect the water, and nearby, a vast cemetery bears witness to the site’s importance: Bedouins buried their loved ones here while camping in the area.
- You’ll then continue toward Cow Rock, a strange rock formation shaped by erosion, and on to Um Ashaman Bridge, a spectacular natural arch.
- The day ends in Um Rada, a vast and peaceful canyon, still untouched by mass tourism. You’ll spend your first night here, under the stars, in the deep silence of the desert.
DAY 2 :
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
FROM UM RADA TO WADI NOGHRA:
- After breakfast, you’ll resume your trek toward Taq Taq, a well hand-dug by the Bedouins long ago. This clever system allowed rainwater to be collected in this arid region, a beautiful example of Bedouin ingenuity.
- You’ll then continue toward Wadi Sabat, a breathtaking viewpoint offering a 360° panorama over the vastness of the desert, a moment of pure magic.
- Along the way, you’ll also discover a traditional stone construction once used to keep milk and cheese cool, while protecting them from wild animals.
- Nabataean and Thamudic inscriptions, carved centuries ago to guide camel caravans, will also mark your path.
- You’ll end the day in Wadi Noghra, a stunning area blending canyons, dunes, and rocks with violet-blue tones, offering a breathtaking panorama.
PS : It’s my favorite place in Wadi Rum.
- You’ll spend the night there, cradled by the silence of the desert.
DAY 3 :
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
FROM WADI NOGHRA TO BURDAH:
- After breakfast, you’ll head toward Um Mugur, a majestic canyon nestled in the heart of the desert. This route takes you through one of the most beautiful and spectacular paths in Wadi Rum, a suspended moment, in deep connection with nature.
- Throughout the journey, you’ll witness a stunning contrast between red and white sands, typical of this unique region.
- You’ll then continue on to Matala, before reaching Burdah, famous for its impressive natural rock arch.
- You’ll spend the night at the foot of this iconic arch, perched 300 meters high and measuring 35 meters across, the largest and most striking in all of Wadi Rum.
DAY 4 :
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
FROM BURDAH TO THE VILLAGE OF RUM:
- After breakfast, you’ll begin your return journey toward the village. On the way, you’ll stop near the famous Mushroom Rock, a fascinating formation shaped by erosion over time.
- You’ll then pass through a spectacular canyon before arriving at the Anfishieh site, known for its ancient carvings left in the rock by the Nabataeans.
- The final stage of your trek leads you to a massive red sand dune, a perfect spot to soak up the desert magic one last time… before gently making your way back to the village of Wadi Rum.
